Kick vs. Clap

by uston » Tue May 10, 2016 1:24 pm

Hey guys,
I would know how you do work around drums? i i'm having struggle with kick, clap and ride that play in the same time ruining attack of the kick.
I tried everything like eq, sidechain in different bands, adjusting attacks, volumes but nothing works and hard sidechain sound too dramatic.
I feel like i'm lost now :(

What I do is to bus all the drums except for the kick and put kickstart on it, with around 30 % and a really short sidechain. You should also low cut claps, rides and other drums if they have some really low end. Not sure what genre you are making, but I guess this can be used in multiple genres.

Hope it helps
