True Peak Metering

by TomFrampton » Sun Jul 10, 2016 10:32 pm

Did you know that most tracks in the charts are actually reaching your ears distorted? This is because they are mastered to 0dbFS (decibels full scale) using the 'Sample Peak Programme' meter found in the mixers of DAWs. HOWEVER, sample peak programme meters don't give you the full picture. A 'True Peak' meter will tell you the actual peak of your audio when it hits the listeners ears.

True Peak metering is a simple concept once you get to grips with it.
